Troubleshooting: Intapp Request Attachments Issue

Overview

Users may occasionally encounter issues when trying to attach documents to an Intapp Request. This typically occurs when attempting to upload a file directly from another application (for example, dragging and dropping from iManage) or when the user's permission level restricts certain actions.

This article explains the symptoms, likely cause, and the recommended workaround.

Symptoms

Users may report one or more of the following:

  • The document does not attach when selected.
  • Drag‑and‑drop attachment fails with no clear error message.
  • The upload window opens but the file does not process.
  • Attachments appear unresponsive when attempted from integrated systems like iManage.

Likely Cause

This behaviour is most commonly associated with:

  • Insufficient permissions, such as when the user has View Only access on the Request.
  • Drag‑and‑drop limitations when attempting to upload directly from certain document management systems (e.g., iManage).
  • Temporary application glitches affecting the attachment workflow.

Workaround

Until permissions or integration issues are resolved, use the following workaround:

Recommended Fix

  1. Save the required document locally to your desktop (or another local folder).
  2. Return to the Request in Intapp.
  3. Use the manual file upload button to attach the file from your desktop.

This method avoids permissions or drag‑and‑drop restrictions and ensures the attachment is successfully added.

Additional Notes

  • If the user only has View Only permissions, they may not be able to upload files at all; permissions may need adjusting.
  • Firms have reported similar behaviour when uploading via drag‑and‑drop from iManage, so uploading from a local copy is recommended.
  • If issues persist, consider raising a ticket with your internal support team or confirming the user’s permission role on the Request.
