Worldcheck Foreign Accent Issue with a Party
How do we fix the World Check Foreign Accent Issue with a Party?
Overview
This error occurs when a Party Record contains foreign accent characters in the World Check fields used during an AML (Anti–Money Laundering) check. The Intapp AML process cannot interpret accented characters, causing the Request to stall or error.
This article explains:
- Why the error occurs
- How to correct the Party Record
- How to resume the AML Request successfully
Why This Happens
World Check requires plain-text characters. If a Party’s name or details contain accents (e.g., é, ñ, ü), the AML integration rejects the data and stops processing.
How to Fix the Issue
1. Open the Party Record
- Navigate to the Party involved in the AML Request.
- Go to the relevant World Check section on the Party Record.
2. Remove Accent Characters
- Locate any field containing letters with accents (e.g., “José García”).
- Replace accented characters with standard ASCII equivalents:
- “José” → “Jose”
- “García” → “Garcia”
3. Save the Updates
Scroll to the bottom of the Party Record and Save your changes.
4. Resume the AML Request
- Return to the AML Request that errored.
- Select Resume or allow the Request to continue from its current workflow stage.
- The Request should now process successfully.
Additional Notes
- This fix applies only to AML processes impacted by accented-character handling within World Check.
- No further action is required once the Party Record is corrected.
