How to Make Changes to Matter Party Details Later in the Process
Overview
If a party has been added incorrectly during the intake process—such as an incorrect address or an unintended party entry—Intapp Open allows you to return the request to an earlier stage to make the required updates. This article explains how to return a request for changes, what happens when you do, and what users should expect.
🔍 When You May Need to Make Party Detail Changes
Common reasons include:
- Incorrect party address
- Party added in error
- Missing or incorrect contact information
- Need to delete a party before conflicts or other checks proceed
These issues cannot be corrected mid‑workflow without sending the request back to an earlier stage.
🛠️ How to Make Changes to Matter Party Details
Step 1 — Select “More” at the Bottom of the Request
At the bottom of the Request screen, select More to access additional workflow options.
Step 2 — Choose “Return for changes”
Select Return for changes so that the record can be edited.
This option allows you to update or delete party details.
Important:
Only authorised users will have the “Return for changes” option.
The user who raises the issue may not be the one with the permissions to action this step.
Step 3 — The Request Returns to the First Stage
When returned for changes, the Request resets to:
- Stage: Enter Client/Matter Details
- Owner: The original Created By user
This ensures that the request is edited by the correct originator before re‑entering the workflow.
Step 4 — Make the Required Updates
Once the request is back with the originator, they can:
- Update or correct the party address
- Delete an incorrectly added party
- Add any missing information
After completing the required updates, the request can be resubmitted.
Step 5 — Resubmit the Request
When the form is resubmitted after party changes:
- A new conflicts email notification will be triggered
(because party changes can affect conflicts assessment)
The workflow then continues as normal.
📝 Additional Notes
- The “Return for changes” action should be used only when necessary, as it sends the Request back to the start of the workflow.
- This ensures accuracy of party information before conflicts, compliance, or matter creation steps proceed.
