How Does a User Delegate a Request in Intapp?
Overview
Users may occasionally need to delegate a Request in Intapp—for example, when they are going on leave, transferring responsibility, or need another team member to complete workflow actions on their behalf. Intapp provides a built‑in delegation feature that allows a user to assign a Request to another authorised user.
🧩 What Delegation Does
Delegating a Request allows another user to:
- Progress the Request through workflow stages
- Complete required intake fields
- Approve, review, or return items depending on permissions
- Act temporarily “on behalf of” the original owner
Delegation does not remove ownership; it simply enables another user to take action.
🛠️ How to Delegate a Request
Step 1 — Open the Request
Locate and open the Request you want to delegate. The delegation options appear within the Request options menu.
Step 2 — Select the Delegate Option
From the menu (typically under More or within the header options), choose Delegate.
This opens the delegation modal or sidebar where you can choose a user.
Step 3 — Choose the User to Delegate To
Search for the colleague who will be handling the Request.
You can select any user who has the necessary system permissions to progress the workflow.
Step 4 — Confirm Delegation
Click Delegate or OK to finalise the action.
The Request will now show the delegated user in the relevant section of the interface.
📝 Important Notes
- Delegation permissions are controlled by your Intapp role.
- The delegated user receives the Request and can action it immediately.
- Delegation can be removed by the original user or by re‑delegating to someone else.
- Delegation applies per Request, not globally across all user workload.
